2025
Here are the dogs we have helped so far in 2025. We are pleased to make contributions towards their medical expenses to ensure happy and healthy lives for them all.
Please click on the Funding Requirements link on the left if you have a rescue dog that needs medical treatment beyond the ordinary needs of spaying/neutering, boarding, annual shots, and things like that. Please make sure you read and understand our requirements prior to making an application. The link to the rescue application is at the end of the requirements.

Snowflake (18 months) is the victim of a failed spay. She had been fitted with a cone, but still managed to chew at her incision, breaking stitches, and causing part of her intestine to pop out! She needed emergency abdominal surgery to repair the damage.
Fortunately, all went well and Snowflake is on the road to a full recovery. We were pleased to be able to pay for the majority of her medical expenses. (April 2025)

Sam (6 years old) was suffering from glaucoma and a very large and ruptured right eye. He was in severe pain. His owners surrendered him to Angela's rescue.
Sam needed immediate attention: the removal of the right eye (enucleation). The surgery was successful and we were happy to provide the funds for it.
(For now,) Sam is a sanctuary dog. Angela writes that he has "massive anxiety issues" which the rescue is working on with a behaviouralist.
Perhaps a pain-free life will help. We wish Sam all the best. (March 2025)

Sky (9 months old) was hit by a car fracturing her pelvis. Her people couldn't afford her medical care so took her to a shelter and requested that she be euthanized. (Pelvic fractures are excruciatingly painful.)
Homeless to Home moved swiftly to rescue Sky, find an orthopaedic veterinarian, and have her necessary surgery.
They did an extraordinary job of fundraising for Sky and we were happy to provide the balance of this expensive surgery. (March 2025)

Georgia is a pretty 4-year-old Siberian mix who was rescued from a shelter. She had been hit by a car, was lame with severe muscle atrophy, and broken bones. She was also lactating, but no puppies were found.
Georgia needed FHO surgery to repair her fractured right hip. It's expensive surgery, but the rescue ensured that Georgia received the necessary care. She is recuperating well and will be available for adoption when she is fully healed.
We were pleased to help and wish Georgia a happy and pain-free life. (March 2025)

This pretty pup (4½" months old) was hit by a car. The shelter was going to euthanize her because she had suffered several fractures. Fortunately, Husky House stepped in to ensure medical attention. Abby had surgical repairs for a dislocated left hip and surgery to a right tibia/fibula with plates and pins.

She is recovering well and is looking forward to a bright future. (February 2025)

Ash is a 2 year-old who was pulled from a shelter and found to have two serious fractures: a dislocated hip and a broken knee. He was scheduled for surgery but developed pneumonia and needed to recover from that first.
He had a cruciate ligament repair and a femoral hip osteotomy and the surgeries were successful. For the last few months Ash has been recovering with extensive hydrotherapy which Joyce tells us is doing wonders for him. He will need to continue with this until he is completely mobile again.
We were pleased to help with Ash's surgical and hydrotherapy expenses. (February 2025)

Devani is a 2-year-old girl who was found injured by the side of the road. She was suffering from severe neglect, a fractured toe, a damaged eye, and a bullet fragment in her skull. She had been shot!
Devani needed expensive surgeries to repair the damage including an enucleation (eye removal).
We were happy to help this rescue with funding to ensure Devani's future as an adoptable dog. (February 2025)

Eva is 6 months old and had just been adopted when her new family realized that something wasn't right with this pup. Sure enough: she had eaten part of a blanket!
The surgical removal of the pieces was expensive and we were happy to help with funding from our general account and from the Magic of Marci fund.
Eva will return to her new family when fully recovered. (February 2025)

In January, SOS-SRF voted to make a substantial donation to the Pasadena Humane Society to help with the victims of the devastating fires.

10-year-old Boris is the unfortunate victim of a divorce. It seems neither partner could keep him. He had been with his people for 8 years. Boris fell into a hole and broke bones in a front leg: his ulna and radius. He was surrendered to Sandy's rescue where he had been as a puppy.
The repairs were expensive and the rescue did an admirable job of fundraising. We were happy to provide substantial funding to make sure this friendly, high-spirited, loving boy got the treatment he needed. You can see him here with one of his American Eskimo pals. (January 2025)
